Healthy eating at our hospitals
Catering Services at Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals provide an average of 3,000 patient meals every day and 750 staff and visitor meals. All meals are freshly cooked and produced within an atmosphere where high standards of hygiene are demanded and are consistently practised.
As a patient you are served three meals a day. Patients choose their meal from individual menu cards the evening before. Each menu offers nutritional and tasty food suitable for a range of special and textured diets and portion sizes. Any patients with social or cultural needs will be offered a separate menu. We provide vegetarian, halal, kosher, caribbean and asian vegetarian menus, and we also provide snack boxes for patients who may have missed meals because of treatment and tests or late admissions. We are committed to Gloucestershire Food Vision and to purchasing local produce wherever this is practical and cost effective.
Catering for Visitors
Each hospital has its own restaurant, which is open to all staff, patients, visitors and general public, where you can enjoy a full range of competitively priced hot meals, salads and snacks, complemented by a range of hot and cold beverages and sandwiches. Healthier options are always available. Vending machines are also available at both hospitals.
