A huge thank you from Dixton Ward!

Dixton Ward at Cheltenham General Hospital has long been waiting for four televisions for their patient rooms. For the past year the ward has been hoping to receive their televisions through the NHS budget, however other medical equipment has taken priority. By using their charitable funding, they have been able to purchase these TVs, allowing their patients to have a more relaxing and comfortable stay when recovering on the ward – just in time for the Wimbledon tennis!

Jan Barnard, Senior Sister said; “Patients can spend a lot of time on our ward, they can feel very isolated and cut off from the outside. A simple distraction of a television for entertainment can change the atmosphere which will do wonders for both the patients and the staff. We’re so thankful for the donations that Dixton Ward has received, enabling us to purchase these TVs, thank you to everyone that gave generously.”

Fiona Hawkins, Fundraising Coordinator said; “The charity is so impressed by Dixton Ward’s enthusiasm to acquire the TVs. As a team they knew that they would make an improvement, giving a more relaxed stay for the patients. I’d like to offer my thanks to their organised Ward Clark, Traci Stacey, for her help with the procurement process.”

The Dixton Ward staff are determined to not stop there, they next wish to buy their own ice machine which will benefit patients suffering from breaks, fractures, swelling and more. They plan on raising enough money by taking part in the Charity’s annual sponsored event, Walk for Wards, which takes place 2nd October in Cirencester Park.
