Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon

If ever there was a forest with a story to tell, it’s The Forest of Dean. Nestled in the hills of South West England between valleys, rivers and an ancient royal forest, The Forest of Dean is a distinctive area of Britain, exposing a fascinating charm and character that is uniquely its own.

Grounded in roots from centuries past, spirited fans and passionate locals have helped carve out its character and join together for this annual event, The Forest of Dean Spring Half Marathon.

Starting and ending at The Speech House, this half marathon offers 13 miles of multi terrain running, through the beautiful and iconic Forest of Dean scenery.

Taking time out from the hospital’s walls, 10 doctors, nurses, paramedics and admin staff from the Gloucestershire NHS Trust formed a daring team of runners to tackle this challenging run, which took place on Sunday 20th March.

They were all raising funds to help improve the environment of the hospitals in each department, from Accident and Emergency to wards and waiting rooms, allowing them to purchase equipment that is over and above that provided by the NHS and will really make a difference for our patients.

This annual event is seamlessly organised by The Rotary Club of the Royal Forest of Dean, supported by the Forestry Commission and an army of fantastic volunteers.

The Hospitals Charity is very grateful for the involvement of this event, and we would like to offer a huge thank you for being invited to take part as an associated charity.
