Hitting Cancer for Six at the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival

As charity partners for the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival, the Hospitals Charity is launching a special appeal to raise money for cancer patients across the county.

The ‘Hit Cancer for Six!’ appeal will raise money for the Oncology Fund, Focus, which provides specialist equipment and extra care for local cancer patients.

In the run up to and throughout the 2016 Festival, Gloucestershire cricket fans and the local community will be invited to ‘Hit Cancer for Six!’ by making a text donation to the Focus Fund. Every donation will help cancer patients receiving treatment in the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre at Cheltenham General Hospital.

Supporters can help us Hit Cancer for Six by texting HITC46 £3 to 70070 and their £3 gift will be doubled by the Brewin Dolphin Foundation.

Brewin Dolphin are backing the appeal by matching text donations through The Brewin Dolphin Foundation, meaning that every text donation of £3 will be doubled to £6!

Head of Fundraising at the Hospitals Charity, Richard Smith: “We’re delighted to be working with the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival to “Hit Cancer for Six!” and we’re hoping to raise as much money as possible to help local cancer patients. We are incredibly grateful to the Brewin Dolphin Foundation and Gloucestershire County Cricket Club for backing this appeal, and to all those who choose to support it.”

Edward Mawle, Head of Office at Brewin Dolphin: “When we heard about the “Hit Cancer for Six!” campaign we really wanted to get behind it; and matching text donations felt like an exciting way for The Brewin Dolphin Foundation to work with the local community to make a real difference.

As a company which has a longstanding tradition of working with local people and organisations, it is very fitting for us to support both the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival and the Gloucestershire Oncology Centre at Cheltenham Hospital, both of which are a huge part of the history of the local area”.

The partnership will continue throughout the Festival, with proceeds raised on Ladies Day (Thursday 21st July) when Gloucestershire take on Leicestershire on the second day of their Specsavers County Championship match, also supporting the Hit Cancer for Six campaign.

Gill Kirkham, Head of Sales and Marketing for the Brewin Dolphin Cheltenham Cricket Festival 2016: “We have an exhilarating Ladies Day lined up! Alongside the cricket, there will be amazing food and drink, entertainment including – the UK’s biggest Yogathon, a shimmy-a-thon an amazing auction, best dressed lady competition, idiots guide to cricket and so much more! With proceeds going to an incredible local cause, overall we have an exciting Festival planned

Not only that but they’ll be welcomed with a glass of sparkling wine and canapes, delicious two course buffet lunch and English afternoon tea in our private hospitality marquee. Tickets for this unique event cost just £60 plus VAT each and are selling very quickly. It will certainly be one to remember”
