Maternity Dance-a-thon

On the 28th November 2015 the Maternity Services staff from Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud, friends and supporters, donnedDance-a-thon1 their dancing shoes to raise money for their department.

The event, which took place at Severn Vale School in Quedgeley, was the first solo fundraising venture by the department, and it is hoped will be the first of many to help raise funds for equipment for maternity services across the county.

The Dance-A-Thon ran from 2-4pm with a break for tea and cake donated by supporters of the maternity units, and a raffle for some lovely baby themed goodies.

Charlotte Harford, a Midwife who organised the event said “turnout was good, we raised over £300” and their sights are firmly set on bettering that total at other events to be organised in the future.

The maternity team are raising funds for a variety of additions to the department, including birthing chairs, to allow women to be in a more natural position during labour, mood lighting for the birthing rooms, to create a more relaxed environment and new monitors to allow women greater freedom of movement while they are labouring.

If you would like to contribute to Maternity’s fundraising efforts, please fill in this form and return it to Charity Office, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Great Western Road, Gloucester, GL1 3NN.
