Nine year old raises £500 for cancer patients through sponsored silence
School girl Briony Dando, age 9, was so grateful for the fantastic care her tennis coach, Jason Poole from Oxstalls Tennis Club received on Lilleybrook Ward in Cheltenham that she wanted to do something to make a difference for future patients.
Briony decided to raise funds to make a direct difference to the ward through a sponsored silence which lasted for eight hours! Briony raised an amazing £500 which has been donated to the ward through our Focus Fund.
“Donations make a huge difference to our work, helping to provide extra care and equipment over and above the NHS which directly benefits local patients fighting cancer. Recent gifts have funded everything from Rise and Recline chairs which give comfort to patients receiving chemotherapy to fold out beds which enable family members of patients to be able to stay overnight by their bedside.
Briony has raised an incredible amount through this sponsored silence – it’s a real achievement and we are very grateful for this support” Head of Fundraising Richard Smith
