Gloucester City Council Area
Mrs Denise Powell
Mrs Denise Powell moved to Gloucestershire as a teenager with her family. Educated at Stroud High School for Girls, she gained her BSc (Hons) Environmental Health at UWE and spent many years working for local authorities in the Midlands before spells at both Gloucester City and Cheltenham Borough Councils.
In 2011 Mrs Powell undertook a Post Graduate Diploma of Law at the University of Birmingham and a Certificate in Mediation. However, her studies were put on hold on learning she had mouth cancer in 2012. During that time Mrs Powell relied on and had close contact with the breadth of NHS services.
She said: “My skills mean I can combine this experience with a professional and objective view of the needs and limitations faced by public sector organisations and apply them to helping make our trust the best it can be.”
