Children’s Ward set for Christmas fun
Children’s Ward staff come together for Christmas Fundraiser
Staff on our Children’s Ward will be hosting a fundraising day on Wednesday 21st December at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital from 10am – 2.30pm. They will be raising money for the Children’s Ward with aim of improving both the parents and teenage facilities on the ward.
The day is shaping up to be a festive extravaganza, with clinical staff dressing up in character outfits to raise smiles and money for their young patients. The event will take place in the main atrium, with a range of stalls encouraging people to get involved and enjoy the day while raising money for a very worthy cause.
Attractions include a visit from Santa Mickey Mouse, cake sale stall, live music from a West End singer, Raffle, Guess the Sweets game and children’s and grown-ups Tombola stalls. Donations for the Raffle and Tombolas from local businesses have flooded in, so thanks to everyone for their generosity.
Consultant and Chief of Service for the Women’s & Children’s Division Dhushy Mahendran said: “The Christmas fundraiser is a great opportunity for staff and patients to have fun and laughter while raising money for a fantastic cause.
“We are so lucky at the Children’s Centre to benefit from the generosity of many charities and individuals every year. We hope that the money raised on this festive fun day will help us make the environment for our teenage patients more comfortable and appropriate. Our parents room will also benefit from this fundraising drive – we do need to ensure that facilities for our families are as good as they can be to help to support them at what is always a stressful and worrying time.
“We encourage patients past and present and their families to come along to support us on the day and of course, everyone who will be visiting the hospital on the 21st is most welcome to come and join in the fun.
“We’ve had some brilliant prizes donated already so do come along and take part in the raffle or tombola. We’re also expecting some fantastic donations from Snow Business today, so it really will be a white Christmas, whatever the weather!
