Friends of GRH fund new heart monitoring equipment
Patients across the county will soon benefit from state of the art heart monitoring equipment following a generous donation from a hospital charity.
The Friends of Gloucestershire Royal Hospital have purchased a twelve lead electrocardiograph (ECG) machine for use in the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) at the hospital.
The new equipment will help to improve the care of patients who are recovering from surgery and anaesthesia as well as improving efficiency.
Charge-Nurse Laurence Broady who works in the PACU at Gloucestershire Royal said:
“Previously we have had to share an E.C.G. machine with two other departments and it was in constant use.
“This new machine will make it much easier for staff particularly when the equipment is needed in an emergency and when a larger number of elderly patients with pre-existing heart disease are undergoing anaesthesia. We are extremely grateful to the Friends of GRH”.
