Help us raise awareness about organ donation in Gloucestershire
Did you know that 7th – 13th July 2014 is NHSBT National Transplant week?
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is supporting the campaign to encourage more people in our County to sign up to the NHSBT Organ Donor Register.
Kate Hurley, Specialist Nurse for Organ Donation said: “Gloucestershire Hospitals has been a big supporter of the campaign in the past and we will be reminding staff as well as patients about the value of organ donation and asking them to sign up to the register.
“We know there are many more people who have not yet joined the register and we encourage those people to sign up and discuss organ donation with their loved ones."
Alex D’Agapeyeff, Clinical Lead for Organ Donation at GHNHSFT, said: "One donor can save the lives of several people, restore the sight of two others and improve the quality of life for many more.
"The more people who pledge to donate their organs and tissue after their death, the more people stand to benefit. Organ donation is the greatest gift one person can give to another."
Would you take an organ if you needed one?
Nearly everyone would, but only 31% of us have joined the Organ Donor Register. Please help us to turn people’s good intentions about organ donation into action by registering on the NHS Organ Donor Register.
