Summer fete at GRH
A Chinese lion dance, music, craft stalls and a bouncy castle will form part of an action-packed day at this year’s summer fete at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH).
Dame Janet Trotter will open the event, which is free to the public, next Saturday (4th July 2015) from 2pm – 5pm at the hospital’s atrium and surrounding open space.
The Friends of GRH have worked closely with a wide range of partners to reinvigorate this year’s fete after several years absence. Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which manages GRH, will also be exhibiting some of the work that goes on in the hospital.
Lis Wittin, one of the event organisers, said that there will be attractions both inside and outside the atrium so no matter the weather there will be plenty of fun for the whole family. “We would like to invite members of the public to come along and join in the fun. The fete will be opened by Dame Janet Trotter and we are planning a wide range of activities from tombola to face painting and Morris dancing. There will also be a pimm’s tent for the adults.”
Professor Clair Chilvers, Chairman of Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, added: “I am really thrilled that the Friends of GRH have reinvigorated the summer fete this year with such vibrancy and enthusiasm.
“Opening up the hospital in such a way not only presents a really exciting opportunity for staff to come together but it also presents the public with an opportunity to come along, share in the fun and see what we do best.”
The event is free and open to all.
