Experience Based Codesign and Stroke Services

The Patient Experience Team have been working with staff and patients in Stroke services on an experienced based Codesign project.

The project has involved gathering the views and experiences of staff and patients and then sharing these with both groups at a joint event which was held on 29th October 2015.

7 patients and carers attended along with 14 members of staff across a range of staff groups. The group were shown films of the patient’s stories and then discussed the priorities for the service. Feedback from staff and patients has been really positive to the approach so far, with those having viewed the films commenting on how powerful they are.

Three priority areas have been identified including increased access to activities, access to hydrotherapy and other activities after discharge and designated domestics for the Stroke wards. Work has started on these and is due to be completed in approximately 6 months.
