Areas of expertise
Dr Makins qualified in Medicine from University College London Medical School in 1998.
She held posts in several specialities, including Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine, before deciding to specialise in Anaesthesia, with a specialist interest in Pain Medicine.
The majority of her Anaesthetic training was completed in North London at University College London Hospitals, The Royal Free Hospital and associated hospitals.
In 2008 Dr Makins relocated to Gloucestershire and completed her Anaesthetic and Specialist Pain Training between the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Bristol Children’s Hospital, Frenchay Hospital and Gloucestershire Hospitals. She now works as a Consultant in Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine, holding clinics at both Gloucestershire Royal and The Dilke Memorial Hospital.

Patients requiring a day case Pain Clinic procedure under the care of Dr Makins will be admitted to the Orchard Day Unit at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, according to the timetable shown below.
