Nurse Led Services
Nurse Led Clinics
Sister Helen Prior leads a team of registered nurses who have all undertaken further training in specific aspects of ENT care.
We run clinics at Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal hospitals for patients with chronic ear conditions or for those requiring long term care. Advice and management with access to more senior review when required is available in a friendly and supportive environment.
Referall into this service is via referral to an ENT Consultant.
In addition, the team provide a diagnostic service for patients suffering from allergic reactions which may produce symptoms relating to the nose.
Allergy testing is carried out by registered nurses trained to carry out skin prick testing which can assist in identifying the cause of patient's symptoms. This test is carried out in the outpatient clinics of both Cheltenham General and Gloucestershire Royal hospitals.
Sister Alison Stokes leads the Head & Neck Pre-assessment service. This is a dedicated team of registered nurses who assess each patient prior to any surgery to ensure fitness for an anaesthetic and reduce the likelihood of complications. They will help patients plan their stay in hospital and advice on recovery periods afterwards. These clinics take place in the Orchard Centre which is on the main Gloucestershire Royal Site (directly opposite the entrance for Physiotherapy).
