Facilities within Endoscopy

The Endoscopy Suites in Cheltenham & Gloucester

The  reception area / waiting room has access to the disabled toilet, for relatives and patients to use before their procedure. We have a small seating area with some reading material and television/radio. We ask that all relatives stay in the waiting room or go out of the Hospital whilst you are having your procedure and do not come through to the Endoscopy recovery area so that we can maintain the Confidentiality, Privacy and Dignity of all our patients. A member of staff will escort your friend/relative into the discharge area when you are ready to go home. 

The facilities on the Unit include: -

  • Toilets
  • Admission rooms
  • Changing areas
  • Sub Waiting areas
  • Levage rooms (for preparation pre-procedure)
  • Side room / Isolation room
  • Recovery Areas - separate bays for male and female patients
  • Discharge Area with facilities to provide hot / cold beverages
  • An Interview room for private talks with the Doctors or Nurses

Additional information

There are several WRVS shops around the Cheltenham General site, the nearest is downstairs in the Oncology area. If you would like directions to the Cafe and / or Restaurant please enquire at Reception.

On the Gloucestershire Royal site, there are two Costa Coffee Cafe's and a Restaurant for refreshments, please enquire for directions.

Language and Hearing difficulties

If any  help is needed for communication (for example English as a 2nd Language) please let the booking office know when they are arranging your appointment, if possible. It is not always appropriate for family members to interpret the personal and sometimes delicate information we have to tell you, so we will book this if we feel it is necessary. 

If you are hearing impaired and need to sign, we may also be able to provide someone to help with this. We do have hearing loop system at GRH, the receptionist can instruct you on how to utilise this if required.

Chaplaincy staff are available if you require their assistance.
