Treatment Planning

Once the treatment site has been identified, a team of radiation oncologists, physicists, and radiographers determine the best way to deliver the course of radiotherapy. This is a complex process as all treatments are tailored to the individual patient.

With modern planning techniques, computers are used to create a virtual 3D representation of the patient based on the data collected during the treatment simulation stage. Using this representation, the team of staff involved can optimise how the treatment is delivered to achieve the best possible outcome for the patient.
