 Gram stain of Staphylococcus aureus in pus.

  • Anti-staphylococcal antibodies may be useful in the diagnosis of deep seated Staphylococcus aureus infections such as osteomyelitis
  • This test is only performed after discussion with a Consultant Microbiologist

Sample requirements

Serum - paired samples not required

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube 

8.5mL BD Vacutainer tube
