Apply the swab firmly to the fauces

Place swab into transport medium

Required information

  • Travel history
  • Date of onset
  • Membranous or pseudomembranous pharyngitis/tonsillitis
  • Sore throat. Red throat. Rash.
  • Penicillin allergy
  • Recent, current and intended antibiotics 

Storage/transport

Store and transport at room temperature. Samples should be transported to the laboratory with minimal delay.

Turnaround time

  • Negative: 24 hours
  • Positive: 48 hours

Significant results will be issued on the next working day after receipt
