Train the Trainer Courses

The programme has been put together to support the educatinal development of all doctors and other members of the MDT who are involved in day to day observation of junior doctors and providing feedback.

The INtrepid code relates to Recognised Supervisors who are expected to do a half day CPD a year or a full day in 2 years.  Thsi could be the ES8 update of one of the other half day workshops.

For non-supervisors many of these programmes are also relevant - please see who the course is amed at.

Teaching Non-Clinical Skills - Supporting the Trainee in Proffessional Skills

  • Consider your role in reflective discussions with more junior staff around the importance of professional skills in medicine.

  • To develop advanced skills for supporting trainees with significant personal or professional challenges or who are presenting problematic behaviours

Aims and Objectives:

  • The various workplace assessments will be described, including how best to apply them and their purpose and place within the training programme. 
  • How to give constuctive feedback.

How to be an Educational Supervisor

Friday 13th January 2017, 9.00am - 5.00pm, Redwood Education Centre, Gloucester

This course covers competencies: ES1-5 required by HEE for Educational Supervisors

Aims and Objectives:

  • Describe the role of the named Educational & Clinical Supervisor
  • Understand the purpose of the portfolio, assessments, ARCP & Supervisor meetings.
  • Develop skills to undertake meaningful appraisals, give effective feedback & career management

Aimed at:
Consultants, SAS & Final Year Trainees.  Designed for those who wish to become the named Educational Supervisor of doctors in training.

To be involved in this important role you must meet the GMC & HEESW requirements. 

Supporting Trainees in Difficulty

This course covers competencies: ES3 & ES7 required by HEE for Educational Supervisors

  • Develop the confidence and skills to constructively help trainees who require additinal support
