Director of Medical Education - Job Role:

  • To provide educational leadership for all involved in medical education and to be responsible for ensuring that the trainers have the requisite skills to educate, appraise and assess the doctors in training.
  • To lead on Modernising Medical Careers and its implementation in the county.
  • To oversee the Clinical Tutors, the Foundation Programme Directors and Department of Postgraduate Medical Education.
  • To liaise with the Trust through the Clinical Directors Group.
  • To chair the Medical Education Board meetings where all College & Specialty Tutors meet the Education Team.
  • To participate in Deanery and College visits to ensure quality of trainee education.

Medical Education Manager - Job Role:

  • To work with the DME, Clinical Tutors and Specialty leads to monitor, evaluate and develop medical education within the Trust; ensuring this is done within the framework of the Educational Contract.
  • To be responsible for the support of medical education services throughout the Trust; this includes the provision of a comprehensive administration service, responsibility for planning, delivery and evaluation of professional teaching actives, training programmes, continuing professional development and skills training for junior doctors.
  • To ensure implementation and monitoring of current legislations and relevant policies and/or procedures.
  • To manage resources and budgets. Identifying opportunities to meet income generation targets and to monitor and audit appropriate use of funds.
  • To be responsible for overseeing the day to day management and promotion of the Education Facilities across the Trust.

Foundation Programme Coordinator - Job Role:

  • Administrative support to the Foundation Programme Directors ensuring the day-to-day management and implementation of the Foundation Programme which all UK Medical Graduates are required to undertake before progressing to specialty or GP training.
  • The post holder is the first point of contact for all F1 and F2 doctors in foundation training posts within the Trust
  • Working with the FPDs to ensure our trainees have a developed teaching programme.
  • To work in conjunction with the Severn Deanery Foundation School to ensure the ethos of the School is adhered to.
  • To liaise with all members of the Foundation Programme team to ensure a successful Foundation Programme.
  • To liaise with the education supervisors regarding their trainees, assessments and portfolios.
  • To assist F1 and F2 doctors with the administration of the Foundation Programme.

  • To provide educational leadership cross-site within the division of medicine and the Trust.
  • To support the DME in delivering the Deanery educational contract and the Trust's training requirements to ensure safe quality patient care within the division.
  • To act as a resource for the pastoral and/or career needs of all trainees in the Division.
  • To work with specialty tutors and educational/ clinical supervisors and maintain and quality assure the high standard of medical education within the Division.
