Welcome to the SAS Development team website. We offer Educational and Developmental Support to Staff Grade, Associate Specialist and Speciality doctors across our Trust. We also cover Trust Grade doctors and those without a recognised training scheme. We organise courses and Educational Days in collaboration with other SAS Teams across the region and are available for individual advice, mentoring and portfolio sessions.

We are based within Postgraduate Medical Education and the team consists of Nicol Vaidya, SAS Tutor,  Syamaprasad Basu, SAS Tutor and Mandy King, Educationalist for SAS doctors.

  • To encourage the development of all SAS Doctors.
  • To assist with development needed for Article 14 progression.
  • To assist with portfolio development to demonstrate the meeting of personal objectives for progression through Threshold 1.
  • To assist with portfolio development to demonstrate contributions to a wider role for Threshold 2.
  • To provide training for processes involved in recertification/revalidation.
  • To advise on how trainees can move between service and training posts.
  • To encourage opportunities to develop new skills and innovative initiatives.
  • To assist with possible secondment opportunities.
  • To develop specific clinical management or other educational skills courses that would benefit the SAS group.

  • To develop skills courses that benefit the SAS group.
