The Fire Safety Team are part of the Estates and Facilities Division and have offices at both Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital.
Fire is a potential hazard in all NHS hospitals/premises and represents both high life and fire risk areas. The outcome of fire in hospitals can be especially serious because of the difficulties associated with the emergency evacuation of patients, many of whom may be highly dependent.
The aim is to ensure that fires do not occur in the first instance, and where they do occur they are rapidly detected, effectively contained and quickly extinguished. Involvement in fire safety is a specific duty of all staff.
Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to the improvements of requirements as defined in “FIRECODE” and in full to the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, to ensure that fire safety precautions are in force for all persons in premises owned, occupied, or the responsibility of the Trust.
