Simulation for Nurses
Nurses now have the opportunity to partake in training related to the acutely unwell patient and managing acute situations within a safe environment using 'Sim Man'. This is a fully interactive mannikin bsed in Redwood. Sim Man can be programmed to present with a number of clinical symptoms. It can verbally respond, be cannulated, be given fluid and if he is not managed correctly, go into cardiac or respiratory arrest. This training is run predominantly by Consultant Anaesthetists with the suport of the resuscitation team and Nursing Education Team. Though initially designed for junior doctors, nurses now have the opportunity to become involved in these sessions. It offers a rare chance to participate in multi disciplinary training in a safe environment. For further information or to book yourself onto this training, please contact Nick Oxlade (Nick.Oxlade@glos.nhs.uk ) in the Professional Education Department.
