CQC rating: Renal units

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated haemodialysis services.

Professor Mark Pietroni, Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive, said:

“The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated haemodialysis services provided by Braun Avitum UK Limited as inadequate following an inspection last summer (2022).

“In their report the inspection team said patients received treatment in line with national standards. They praised staff for their commitment and dedication and said they were delivering ‘good quality, safe care.’

“However, the CQC did identify a number of risks and weaknesses to the estate and management processes, which, if not acted upon, may present risk of harm in the future.

“While we are disappointed with the outcome of the inspection, we acknowledge that there is learning for both organisations. Following the inspection significant progress has already been made.”
