Kerry was described as an inspiration and an 'incredible leader' by the Infection Prevention and Control team and highlighted as someone who works tirelessly to make changes for better patient outcomes. She is dedicated to preventing harm to her patients and has the capacity and diversity to ensure all aspects are considered.

Team members reported that Kerry truly cares about her team and always supports them to think outside the box and develop them in their roles, as well as supporting them personally. Almost everyone in the organisation knows Kerry because she is so kind, friendly and incredibly hardworking.

One nomination said, "Although her schedule is extremely demanding, since working with the IPC Team, I have been pleasantly surprised about how beautifully the Team works together, which is all down to Kerry as she leads with a smile and believes in all her staff."

Nominations described Renal ward manager Priya’s leadership style as embodying the qualities of an outstanding leader—she is compassionate, visionary and committed to both her team’s well-being and the highest standards of patient care. Priya leads by example, ensuring that every member of the team understands the importance of treating each patient with dignity, respect and empathy.

One of Priya’s greatest strengths is her ability to foster a supportive and collaborative team environment, which has created a culture of mutual respect and teamwork where staff feel empowered and motivated to contribute their best. Whether dealing with increased patient loads, staff shortages or complex cases, she remains calm, composed and solutions-oriented. Her ability to navigate these challenges with grace and resilience has been a source of inspiration for the entire team.

Outpatient Therapy

Sam Bailey leads the Outpatient Therapy Service with great enthusiasm, supporting his team to implement a new approach to accessing physiotherapy outpatients access. This innovation project has been shortlisted for 2 HSJ patient safety awards later this year.

Sam's team described him as a compassionate leader who encourages flexibility in the workplace, embraces learning opportunities and is always looking for innovation. Staff engagement and retention has improved when Sam began to implement job plans that gave staff dedicated time for supervision, training and personal and departmental development.

One of many nominations described Sam as a "supportive and approachable leader who listens to colleagues' ideas, concerns and feedback. His approach to staff engagement really makes every member of his team feel valued."
