An Underwater Adventure is a large-scale public mural at the Children’s Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

The colours and playful marine creatures were chosen during sessions with staff and patients who, when asked what they hoped would be created for this wall, said that they wanted it to feel calming, colourful and welcoming.

Painted using spray paint, layers are built up to create a semi realistic image that has a 3-D effect. The artwork is by local artist Tom Brookes, known as TRIX, who completed it during some of the hottest days of the year this summer.

The project was funded by the Pied Piper Appeal, supported by 360 Contract Services and coordinated by our Arts Coordinator Anoushka Duroe-Richards.

Anoushka described how the artwork has already become a landmark at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital (GRH) site, allowing patients and visitors to recognise the Children's Centre as soon as they arrive at the hospital.
