Supporting Learning and Innovation: A new microscope has been funded to support junior doctors

Haematology Microscope Thanks to our generous supporters, a new high-tech haematology microscope has been funded to support local cancer patients.
Haematology Microscope

A haematology microscope is a specialised piece of equipment used to examine blood samples. It allows medical teams to analyse blood cells, platelets and plasma to help diagnose conditions such as leukaemia, anaemia and lymphoma.

Thanks to generous donations to the charity, this state-of-the-art microscope was funded to enhance the available technology and provide valuable training opportunities for junior doctors in the department. This advanced equipment enables faster analysis, superior digital imaging and greater efficiency. Additionally, it has strengthened the lab reporting work conducted by the Haematology Consultants and the Registrar Team.

Josh Peett, General Manager of Oncology, Haematology, Palliative Care and Immunology, expressed his gratitude to supporters.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to help make this advanced technology a reality. This modern microscope will greatly benefit our clinical staff, enhancing the accuracy of clinical result reporting and improving training.”

“High-quality teaching in the Haematology Department is essential for supporting junior doctors, particularly registrar trainees on their pathway to become senior doctors in the speciality.”
