Visionary donation transforms the hospital environment for local eye patients
Cheltenham’s General Hospital’s East Block Out Patients Department has recently benefitted from a £256,000 refurbishment. Thanks to the generous supporters of Gloucestershire Eye Therapy Trust and Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, these improved facilities are helping to create a better experience for patients.
The transformed space starts with a welcoming waiting area and comfortable seating when patients first arrive, through to improved spacious clinic rooms where appointments and minor treatments take place. A staff training area has also been created to offer a dedicated space for teams to continue to develop and learn.
It’s fantastic to have this improved environment that will benefit the thousands of patients who each year are supported by our Ophthalmology team. We are very grateful to Gloucestershire Eye Therapy Trust and to all who have supported them and been a part of this. Our staff are delighted to give our patients a better experience and to have such a brilliant environment to work in.

It’s clear how much the community value their work. The support given by Gloucestershire Eye Therapy Trust really embodies this; their kind support has made a real difference and is a boost to the team in their work.”
We would like to say a huge thank you to Gloucestershire Eye Therapy Trust for their continued support in funding specialist equipment, new innovation and improvements to facilities; their work will continue to benefit the future of healthcare for local eye patients.
