Dr Custard trained at the University of Birmingham Medical School (qualified 2001 MBChB).
His junior medical training was carried out in the West Midlands and on the south coast. He then completed his higher specialist training in the Severn region (Somerset, Avon and Gloucestershire) gaining experience in all the major medical specialties (Respiratory, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Geriatrics and Intensive Care Medicine) and in many different Acute Medical Units.
Acute Medicine - i.e. review of unselected sick medical patients in their first 48hrs in hospital with a view to early discharge or escalation of treatment as appropriate.
Dr Custard has a particular interest in:
- Echocardiography
- Sepsis
- Quality Improvement Science
- Patient Safety
Inpatient services
Dr Custard treats inpatients on Acute Care Unit C in Cheltenham General Hospital and occasionally provides care in Acute Care Unit A at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital
