If you are likely to experience nausea and/or vomiting, you will be given anti-sickness medication before each treatment and a supply to take home.

Advice to help with nausea and/or vomiting:

  • Ginger, peppermint, ice lollies and fizzy drinks may help
  • Avoid fried and fatty foods
  • Keep well hydrated, drink plenty of water
  • Eat little and often
  • Avoid cooking food when feeling sick if the smell of the cooking makes you feel worse
  • Avoid drinking too much fluid before eating

Sometimes anxiety can cause nausea and vomiting.

Call AHOU if experience any of the following due to nausea and/or vomiting:

    • You are being sick a lot or for more than 24 to 28 hour
    • You are still feeling sick despite taking anti-sickness medication
    • You are unable to take your oral medication
    • You are unable to drink fluids regularly
    • You are unable to eat
    • You are also constipated
    • You are not passing much urine
    • You are losing weight
    • You are concerned about your sickness and/or vomiting
