Caring for children with skin conditions

We look after children from birth to 18 with skin conditions or problems. We usually see them in the Children's Outpatients Department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital's Children's Centre. Children are also seen as inpatients in the children's ward, the maternity and neonatal units. Our Paediatric Dermatology Specialist Nurse will also visit patients in home or at school if necessary.

How can I refer my child?

Children and young people are usually referred to us via a GP, a Consultant, paediatric community and specialist nurses, as well as by Health Visitors.

How do children transition to adult services?

Our young patients are introduced to the adult dermatology specialists before they make the transition to adult care. In many cases, our patients continue to be cared for by the same Consultant when they move to adult care.

Our team

We have six Consultant Dermatologists at our hospitals, but Dr Porter specialises in paediatric dermatology.
