If you are arriving at the hospital during the night (after 9pm), please note the following information to help you access the Women's Centre at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital safely and smoothly.

Our main Delivery Suite, Maternity Ward, Maternity Triage and Gloucester Birth Unit are all within the Women's Centre.

  • You can be dropped off directly outside the main entrance to the Women's Centre on Mayhill Way. There is a buzzer at the entrance which you can use to be admitted to the building.
  • However, your birth partner may only drop you off at this entrance. If they need to park the car, they should return to the Tower Car Park, which is accessible from Great Western Road. This is the main car park for longer stays.
  • For security reasons, some hospital entrances are closed at night. To enter the hospital after 10pm, please use the buzzer outside the Tower Entrance, located near the Tower Car Park (around a 2-minute walk).
  • Our hospital switchboard team monitors this entrance and will release the door remotely once you buzz.
  • Once inside, follow the internal signage towards the main Tower lifts, then bear left to reach the Women's Centre via the internal corridors.

We understand that arriving at hospital at night, whether you are in labour or accompanying someone, can be an anxious time, so please rest assured that our teams are here to support you every step of the way.

  • If you are leaving via the Tower exit at night to return to the Tower Car Park, you will find a similar buzzer inside, which will allow you to exit the building safely.
