The Molecular Pathology department, based within the Cellular Pathology Department at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHNHSFT), provides access to a comprehensive selection of specialist molecular pathology and genomic testing on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) specimens.

The department can access a wide range of testing for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes performed both internally and externally using a variety of different techniques including immunohistochemistry (IHC), Fluorescent in situ hybridisation (FISH), PCR based targeted assays, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Requesting

Molecular testing on known solid tumour samples (FFPE only) can be requested via Home Page - Pathology Add On Tests (glos.nhs.uk) link.

Please complete all required fields, including as much information as possible for the requested test. Should we need to contact you, we will use the requestor’s information as provided.

If you are a clinician from outside of Gloucestershire Hospitals wishing to access FFPE material held by our department for testing, please contact the department via email ghn-tr.histologygenomics@nhs.net or phone 0300 422 3311/3313

Returning Reports

Reports for testing will be available on the Laboratory Information System (LIMS) within 3 days of receipt to the department. The requesting clinician will be emailed once a report is available on PAS.

A copy of all external PDF reports will be available to view in Sunrise EPR results tab.
