- Used for patients where a diagnosis of Enterovirus meningitis or encephalitis is considered
- The test is usually performed on a lymphocytic CSF
- This test is part of the Meningo-encephalitis viral PCR screen set
- Confirmation of Enterovirus infection may require a throat swab, stool sample and an EDTA blood sample

Sample requirements
This will be performed on CSF samples sent for microscopy and culture
A minimum CSF volume of 200 µl is required for reliable testing.
