Ethanol (alcohol) analysis on blood or urine cannot be performed by this laboratory from samples of persons involved in Road Traffic Act incidents.
This analysis is provided by specific members of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and must be arranged directly with the laboratories.

Ethanol analysis is available for acute clinical management of in-patients when occasionally required.
Sample requirements
For adults and children, 2mL blood taken into a fluoride-oxalate tube
Storage/transport
Do not store. Send at ambient temperature to the laboratory.
Required information
Relevant clinical details including the reason for the request.
Turnaround times
The assays are run throughout the day and night. Results are normally available within 24 hours. The test can be ordered as an urgent request.
