- Used to determine immunity status after Hepatitis B vaccination
- If Hepatitis B infection is suspected, please request Hepatitis B surface antigen
- Samples giving a negative antibody result are tested for Hepatitis B core antibody to exclude natural hepatitis B infection as a cause of vaccine failure
- Post vaccination testing is not routinely required except in certain high risk and occupational groups (see Immunisation Against Infectious Disease - The Green Book)
- Testing is not routinely required following a sharps/exposure incident

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube
