Notes

• These tests are part of the following viral screen sets:
  • Respiratory screen
  • Heart screen
  • Encephalitis screen
  • Myalgia screen
• For a more rapid diagnosis of current infection, viral nose and throat swabs for PCR are preferred
• Serum antibodies will not distinguish between Influenza A H1N1 2009 (Swine) and other strains of Influenza A virus

Serum - paired samples normally required

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube
