Notes
- JC virus is detected by PCR.
- Associated with Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML).
- Tested following specific request.
- If possible, send both CSF and EDTA blood samples.
Sample requirements
CSF - 30 mL sterile universal container
A minimum CSF volume of 150 µl is required for reliable testing.
4ml of blood taken into an EDTA Tube

Samples are sent to the National Reference Centre
