Mycophenolic acid is an immunosuppressant drug used primarily to prevent organ transplant rejection but also used to treat other immune-mediated disorders such as psoriasis, vasculitis and lupus nephritis.
Therapeutic drug monitoring is not routinely available for this drug except for a very limited paediatric application. Please contact the duty biochemist with any enquiries.
Sample requirements
For children, a pre-dose blood sample taken into a 2mL EDTA tube
Storage/transport
Send at ambient temperature to the laboratory on the day of sample collection.
Required information
Relevant clinical details including reason for the request, date and time of last dose and date and time of sample.
Turnaround times
Samples are sent for analysis to a referral laboratory, with results expected back within 2 weeks.
Therapeutic ranges
No therapeutic ranges are available. Results are reported in mg/L (equivalent to µg/mL).
