Notes

• Mycoplasma agglutination will be tested on selected hospital inpatient samples
• Further tests (CFT) will generally be performed on paired sera only, unless the date of onset is greater than 14 days previously
• Mycoplasma pneumoniae antibody testing is part of the following viral screen sets:
  • Respiratory screen
  • Heart screen

Sample requirements

Serum - paired samples normally required

8.5ml of blood taken into a plain gel tube

• Date of onset
• Severity of illness

Storage/transport

Store at fridge temperature

Transport as soon as possible at ambient temperature
