Graduation and Awards 12th December 2017
The 6th GSQIA Graduation and Awards Ceremony took place on 12th of December 2017 at 10:00am in the Lecture Hall in Sandford Education Centre, Cheltenham General Hospital.
The award ceremony marked the end of the 7 month, Silver – Quality Improvement in Action Programme for 10 members of staff who have been working on 9 different improvement projects across the Trust. This event gave each team the opportunity to share their work and their learnings and for the Trust to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

Each team presented a summary of their improvement work and prizes have been awarded in the following categories through a combination of judging panel, online and audience voting:

Silver Level Quality Improvement Practitioners
At the conclusion of the programme participants have also graduated as Silver – Quality Improvement Practitioners, recognised by the presentation of a Silver QI pin badge and certificate:
- Paediatric Sepsis by Dr Leena Nathwani
- Improving the Cancer pathway to ensure the Division meets current cancer targets by Adele Pugh
- Ensuring all Deaf BSL users experience effective communication with the Trust by Carol McIndoe
- Renal Young Persons’ Transition Clinic by Emma Rodgers
- Improving the time it takes to locate a tendon hammer on wards by Dr Nesem Al-Ali
- Improving management of jobs handed to on call doctors during weekday medical ward cover by Dr Ogheneochuko Bakpa
- Quality Patient Focused Admissions by Matthew Little
- Increasing the number of insulin doses that are given on time by Rebecca Mustow
- Engaging frontline staff in quality improvement science to improve the patient experience by Katherine Holland and Suzie Cro
In addition to providing an opportunity to share the learning from improvements that are under way, these events form an integral part of the Academy objective to create an ‘Improvement Movement’ across the Trust, with the ultimate ambition of creating a culture of continuous improvement.
