Graduation and Awards 12th May 2016
The 1st GSQIA Graduation and Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, 12th of May 2016 at 2:00pm in the Lecture Hall in Redwood Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The award ceremony marked the end of the 7 month, Silver – Quality Improvement in Action Programme for 17 members of staff who have been working on 7 different improvement projects across the Trust. This event gave each team the opportunity to share their work and their learnings and for the Trust to recognise and celebrate their achievements.

Each team presented a summary of their improvement work and prizes have been awarded in the following categories through a combination of judging panel, online and audience voting:

Most Innovative Quality Improvement
Reducing dispensing errors in CGH Pharmacy
Best Quality Improvement Poster
Best Quality Improvement Presentation
Management of corneal foreign bodies in the ED
Silver Level Quality Improvement Practitioners
At the conclusion of the programme participants have also graduated as Silver – Quality Improvement Practitioners, recognised by the presentation of a Silver QI pin badge and certificate:

- VTE Risk Assessment in Lower Limb Immobilisation by Dr Alexandra Powell, Dr Rachel Wright & Dr Jack Burnham
- Reducing dispensing errors in CGH Pharmacy by Elisabeth Cook
- Improving the delivery of prompt and effective analgesia for fractured neck of femur patients in the Emergency Department by Dr Elsa Brew-Girard, Dr Briana Carney & Dr Mark Williams
- Management of corneal foreign bodies in the Emergency Department by Dr Timothy Schrire, Dr Joseph Tustain & Dr Sian Williams
- Improving documentation of advice given to patients with a diagnosis of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) by Beth Jones
- Antibiotics are go! by Dr Gabrielle Churchhouse, Dr Annie-Rose Toms Whittle and Dr Patricia Wells
In addition to providing an opportunity to share the learning from improvements that are under way, these events form an integral part of the Academy objective to create an ‘Improvement Movement’ across the Trust, with the ultimate ambition of creating a culture of continuous improvement.
