15th Silver Graduation and Awards 19th December 2019
The 15th GSQIA Graduation and Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, 19th of December 2019 from 9:30am – 12.30pm in the Lecture Hall at Redwood Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The award ceremony marked the end of the 7 month, Silver – Quality Improvement in Action Programme for staff who have been working on different improvement projects across the Trust. This event gave each team the opportunity to share their work and their learnings and for the Trust to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
The GSQIA Award Winners:
- Streamlining the Newborn Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) Process on the Maternity Ward to Improve Productivity by Sarah Simmons & Katy Murphy
- Improving the TTO process for Day Surgery Patients by Catrin Davies & Laura Cummings
Best QI Project Winner:
- Ward Admin & Values & Excellence (WAVE) Training Programme by Craig Blakeway, Karen Wheeldon and Louise Jones
At the conclusion of the programme participants graduateed as Silver – Quality Improvement Practitioners, recognised by the presentation of a Silver QI pin badge and a certificate. In addition to providing an opportunity to share the learning from improvements that are under way, these events form an integral part of the Academy objective to create an ‘Improvement Movement’ across the Trust, with the ultimate ambition of creating a culture of continuous improvement.

- Quality Improvement initiative to improve staff experience that could lead to effective communication, good team relations, retention and enhanced patient care by Khoboso Hargura
- Introduction of Oxygen Target Wristbands on Ward 8b by Emilie Kerslake & Andy Godfrey
- A Service improvement project increasing the number of TTO’s that document discontinued medicines by Chelcie Griffiths-Mead
- Homelessness in the Emergency Department (ED) by Shona Duffy & Becca Shaw
- Keep Calm. Stay Warm. A Quality Improvement Initiative to prevent Surgical Site Infection (SSI) through Perioperative Temperature Management by Nur-in Mohammad
- Improving Nutritional Screening in the Chemotherapy Outpatient Setting by Louise Le Hegarat & Hannah Cook
