14th Silver Graduation & Awards Ceremony (30th September 2019)
The 14th GSQIA Graduation and Awards Ceremony took place on Monday, 30th of September 2019 from 9:30am – 12.30pm in the Lecture Hall at Redwood Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The award ceremony marked the end of the 6 month, Silver – Quality Improvement in Action Programme for staff who have been working on their improvement projects across the Trust. This event gave each team the opportunity to share their work, learning and for the Trust to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
QI Teams have given a 5 minute poster presentation each and competed for the following prizes:
- Winner: Best Project - Improving patient safety in enteral feed and fluid prescription and administration in community care settings by Michelle Barry & Lyndsey Tomlinson
- Winner: The GSQIA Award - WHO checklist – The Writing’s on the Wall by Claire Cushley
At the conclusion of the programme participants have also graduated as Silver – Quality Improvement Practitioners, recognised by the presentation of a Silver QI pin badge and a certificate.

- Improving patient safety in enteral feed and fluid prescription and administration in community care settings by Michelle Barry & Lyndsey Tomlinson
- Peritoneal dialysis (PD) peritonitis - To reduce the rate of PD peritonitis to less than 0.5 infections per patient treatment year in 6 months by Aisha Geeson
- Newborn Information Hub by Sophie Ferguson & Eirwen Rees
- Development & delivery of a training programme to ensure all staff achieve stroke specific competencies at the new Vale Community Hospital Stroke Unit by David Bowen
- Introduction of Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) for cystectomy patients by Ed Tudor
- WHO checklist – The Writing’s on the Wall by Claire Cushley
- Improving recognition and early management of immunotherapy related Diarrohea/Colitis and improving referral for specialist review by Jyothsna Chennupati
- Colonoscopic surveillance in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Improving the service for our patients by Laura Chase
