Graduation and Awards 8th December 2016
The 2nd GSQIA Graduation and Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, 8th of December 2016 at 2:00pm in the Lecture Hall in Redwood Education Centre, Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The award ceremony marked the end of the 7 month, Silver – Quality Improvement in Action Programme for 14 members of staff who have been working on 11 different improvement projects across the Trust. This event gave each team the opportunity to share their work and their learnings and for the Trust to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
Congratulations to the Winners
Each team presented a summary of their improvement work and prizes have been awarded in the following categories through a combination of judging panel, online and audience voting:

Improving pain management in the Emergency Department
Most Innovative Quality Improvement
Best Quality Improvement Poster
Best Quality Improvement Presentation
Reducing the clerking time for patients overnight
Silver Level Quality Improvement Practitioners
At the conclusion of the programme participants have also graduated as Silver – Quality Improvement Practitioners, recognised by the presentation of a Silver QI pin badge and certificate:
- Improving handovers between the Birth Units and Delivery Suite by Emily Beach & Rose Mitchell
- Workplace Improvement Team by Gary Monaghan
- Improving quality of discharge summaries and clinical coding in Paediatrics by Dr Edward Coxson
- To create a single, informative patient experience report by Jean Tucker & James Farley
- Service improvement project on increasing information about newly started medicines on discharge paperwork by Eleanor Adams
- Action expresses Priorities - Taking control of the acutely medically unwell in Gloucester Royal Hospital by Dr Zoe Jones
- Reducing the clerking time for patients overnight by Dr Leonard Griffiths
- Reducing the time waited from referral to consultant appointment in the Sleep Apnoea Clinic to less than 11 weeks by Beverley Gray & William Sims
- Improving pain management in the Emergency Department by Dr Elizabeth Martin
- Implementation of Emergency Department patient safety checklist by Dr Elinor Beattie
- Improving the insertion of chest drains in the Emergency Department by Dr Helen Mansfield
In addition to providing an opportunity to share the learning from improvements that are under way, these events form an integral part of the Academy objective to create an ‘Improvement Movement’ across the Trust, with the ultimate ambition of creating a culture of continuous improvement.
