Background & Problem
Work was undertaken in the Maternity Triage area, by the whole team. We provide care for women with concerns in pregnancy and the postnatal period. The CQC identified the waiting times in Triage as a concern and required improvement.
Aim
We aim to see 95% of women within 15 minutes of arrival, currently only 80-85% are seen within this time period, by November 2017.
Method
- A change in day time staffing was undertaken.
- Introduction of assessment proforma and an Acuity Score to assist with patient flow.
- Change in practice method.
- Continue to record admissions on Activity sheet and input data in statistic database.
Results
Some improvement has been made.
Implications
Engaging staff assists with change acceptance. Results could be published to assist in change nationally, there are no national guidelines for maternity Triage.
