Places to Escape
We are bringing comfort, connection and escape to patients through the power of virtual reality (VR).
Being in hospital for long periods can be challenging for both patients and their loved ones. Sometimes you may feel like you have lost a sense of independence and the freedom to go where you want, when you want, or at your own pace and this can affect mood and overall wellbeing.
By introducing Virtual Reality experiences, patients will be able to Reality to help patients escape and reconnect. With VR, patients can visit places they miss, explore new destinations, or simply find comfort in familiar surroundings.

With this new trial, they can revisit cherished places, explore new surroundings, or find peace in a familiar, calming setting - through immersive 360-degree videos filmed across Gloucestershire in collaboration with local businesses and organisations.
We are making this trial available to patients in both Oncology and Critical Care across both sites at Gloucestershire Hospitals. Our long-term goal is to make hospital stays more positive, meaningful, and a little closer to home. We can’t wait to see the impact!
This trial aims to enhance patients' wellbeing, lift spirits and make time in our care a little more positive, meaningful and a bit more like home.
Please be aware that for this trial, strict inclusion and exclusion criteria have been developed to support in identifying patients who are suitable to use VR safely and effectively in an acute hospital setting and consent is required.
